Season’s Greetings! It’s been a busy year for all of us at Getfeedback and as we look back on the year there are a number of highlights which we’d like to share with you:

Our highlights of the year

  • Extending our range of 360 degree feedback surveys to include education, sales and legal roles
  • Creating a new 180 degree feedback survey - which enables a user to obtain feedback from a line manager and direct reports on a particular area of their work
  • Developing our own Test User Occupational Ability course to accredit people in the use of psychometric ability tests
  • Meeting current and new clients at a number of industry events this year, including the CIPD’s Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE) in November. You can learn more about ACE later on in this issue.

Why engagement matters

In January 2013 the government will publish its mid-term review, outlining achievements to date and the priorities for the second half of the Parliament. In a speech to MPs last week Nick Clegg, Deputy Prime Minister, said: “I think it’s right that at this half way point we judge ourselves against our own benchmarks. In some areas we’ll be able to show that we have overachieved and in other areas where we have not achieved as much as we would have liked.”

The government’s mid-term review, and Nick Clegg’s comments, highlights the importance of engagement and the value gained from setting time aside to conduct an audit, to reflect on what has been achieved and to focus on what needs to happen next. Our experience shows that when conducting an engagement survey there is real benefit in reviewing internal and external benchmarks to identify the areas of primary focus for action planning. Combing benchmarking with a robust engagement model, key driver and verbatim comment analysis can ensure action is targeted and delivers meaningful results.

At Getfeedback we offer a range of user-friendly engagement surveys and we can help a management team to interpret the results - without bias - and to create an action plan to understand the best ways to improve the findings from their engagement survey. Recruit and retain great critical thinkers

We’ve recently run a campaign to promote the importance of accurate assessment and development programmes amongst legal professionals. The Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal is recognised as the assessment benchmark for barristers in England and Wales by the Bar Council. We’ve worked with HR teams in a number of leading law firms and know that the implementation of the Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal can deliver significant benefits. The campaign has publicised the Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal and has highlighted how accurate assessment techniques enable HR professionals to confidently recruit - and retain - high calibre individuals.

Contact us to find out more about the Watson Glaser or our assessment and development programmes, which are relevant for a wide range of industry sectors.

Appraisals made easy...

Add an action to your 2013 New Year’s resolution list to set some time aside in January to plan your future appraisals! In many organisations appraisals need to be completed by the end of March or early April. If you book regular time slots in your new 2013 diary or calendar now then the preparation for your appraisal - and your team’s appraisals - will be far more manageable. Remember to focus on the development aspect of your appraisals and to consider the implementation of a 360 degree feedback survey for your team members, if your company doesn’t have one in place already.

To find out more about the benefits of 360 degree feedback surveys click here or contact us and we’ll be happy to provide more information.

An ACE event!

In early November we attended the CIPD’s Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE) in Manchester. The event is a fantastic forum for HR professionals, enabling us to share best practice and gain insights from numerous presentations and seminars. We enjoyed meeting with individuals from a range of sectors - from automotive to technology, finance to retail - and talking to them about relevant solutions to meet their HR needs.
